Why are they making an acadmy of english?
An Academy of English is being formed by the Queen’s English Society, trying to stop English language from changing to much, for example the language we use on mobile phones.
What do I think of this idea of an acadmy of English?
I think that it shouldn't happen because English language is a living language, and everything in life changes once in a while, i think that language is very interesting feature of everyday life, for example looking back a hundred or so years ago and seeing how the people then and there spoke is really shocking how indetifying how much the language has changed.
If the academy of English try everything they can to protect English language its not going to work because people are making up words every day. They will be very strict about spelling, however some people adapt words and spell them in a different way and they do still sound the same and stand for the same vocabualry as when spelt right.
With the English acadmy they don't agree with specific words, an example is the word like. This word 'like' is used as a filler and the reason they don' like this word is because it doesn'
give description.
The positive points about language is that people are having more conversations alot easier also where the language is forever changing history is being created.
The negative points of language changing is that more abusive language is being created by young teenagers, Young teenagers have a massive effect on the language changing because they end up using it in everyday conversations.
A modern new language word is the phrase: lol, which stands for laugh out loud, this is an acronym but is now used in everyday language. Some people think that the new word is ugly and spoiling the English vocabulary, however some people think that the word is improving and making the basic conversations between people when interacting easier.
